Glasgow travel chaos as M74 closed and emergency services rush to the scene

Drivers are being urged to use alternative routes and to expect delays.

Drivers are being warned of travel chaos on the M74 due to an ongoing incident.

Traffic Scotland reports that two lanes of the busy carriageway are currently closed southbound between Junction 1A near Polmadie and Junction 2. The incident was reported at around 5.10pm.

Emergency services are responding to a road traffic collision and are at the scene. Drivers are being urged to use alternative routes and to expect delays.

We previously told you how all three lanes had been closed. However, one has since reopened.

Images from the scene appear to show a collision between a lorry and a car.

A spokesperson for Traffic Scotland said in an update: “Lanes 1 and 2 remain CLOSED Southbound due to a road traffic incident. Lane 3 is now OPEN

“Emergency services are at scene.”
